Warshield Pro Bono

Advisory Engagement

Warshield is proud to offer advisory services pro bono for incorporated not-for-profit organizations or grassroots groups facing opportunities or problems that centre around questions like: “how do we approach this?” or “are we on the right track?” Warshield aims to provide the support organizations need to overcome barriers or challenges, regardless of financial status.

Interested organizations may submit one application per opportunity/problem they need advice on, and multiple applications can be submitted during a single year. Priority will be given to applications from Indigenous-led grassroots groups and small not-for-profit/charitable organizations with annual budgets under $500,000 CAD.

Through Warshield’s Pro Bono Advisory Program, we advise on a range of issues, including:

  • General legal consultation
  • Contract reviews (employment contracts, funding agreements, vendor agreements, etc.)
  • Incorporation
  • Organizational or program governance
  • Human resources
  • Government relations (municipal, provincial, federal, or international)
  • Community engagement
  • Economic development

Warshield Pro Bono Advisory Engagement services are provided by Warshield’s team of experts. Our support will help not-for-profits increase their impact in the communities they serve in the short, medium, and long term. This program aligns with Warshield’s commitment to empowering these groups by helping to develop the tools and strategies they need to thrive.

Thinking of applying?

Warshield’s Pro Bono Advisory Engagement program is only available for engagements that require a maximum of up to 10 hours to advise upon. Hours may be spread out over multiple months. This time cap excludes any review or project scoping conversations required to initiate engagement, and this restriction is in place to ensure that the scope of projects align with Warshield’s capacity.

If Warshield does not have the appropriate expertise to support a project, we will endeavour to connect applicants with outside resources, consultants, or lawyers.

Applicant organizations or groups must be willing to have their name and logo used in public Warshield materials, including but not limited to, its website, social media, and reporting. We welcome testimonials, photos, and impact stories, but no post-engagement reporting will be required.

Submissions are reviewed on a monthly basis and selected applicants can expect a response from Warshield within 4-6 weeks. While Warshield welcomes all applications, those that are rejected will not receive a response. However, organizations or groups are invited to submit additional applications for any other issues or opportunities they need advice on.
